I was only trying to help a friend. I swear. I was legit asking for a friend who was finally ready to date again.I knew what she wanted in a man -- smart, funny, ambitious, well-read (no, the sports section doesn't count), and plays a wicked game of badminton.
So I did what any good friend would do. Posted it for her. It seemed like a good idea at the time — I’d weed through the candidates, and bring her my top picks.
But then he responded.
Is it wrong to date the guy I screened for my bestie? Not asking for a friend.

Ah ha! So I’m not the only girl who had a love affair with my trusty thesaurus!! I don’t have Amy’s gift of gab and I’ve never fallen for a guy I picked out for a really good friend but I sure had one hell of a great time reading this fast paced, flirty and oh-so-fabulous peek into the Blakely brain and it was awesome! I don’t know how she keeps topping her last book but I’m so freaking happy she does it each and every time. Amy and Linc’s story was ‘da bomb!

A thesaurus full of brilliant words!!!!
Lauren Blakely writes another fantastically written Rom-Com! Amy wasn’t looking for romance, she’s working on how to sell herself for a new job promotion. She starts asking questions of how to get her promotion from her family and friends. She meets her friend at the Gin Joint (bar) and realizes that her friend is starting to get over her divorce, Amy proceeds with her “inspiring” plan that she is going to set up a profile on a dating app and vet all potential boyfriends for her. Linc Silvers has just arrived to New York. After leaving CA for a fresh start after an awkward last year at his previous company, he has decided that no more office relationships. However, he is drawn to Amy and her witty and wordy brain. After informing his office friend that he is not going to get involved with Amy because she works in the same office, he suggests that he get on a dating app. With neither one of them knowing whom they are talking to, they both get to know each other. And, when the secret of each other is revealed they must decide what they are going to do. Betty Boop and Dax Powers becomes and cartooning comedic duo in Lauren’s lastest!!

Another perfect read!
Amy is a girl after my own heart, not only knows “A league of their own” (best baseball movie ever!) and loves P!nk, shes all about desserts! Yes girl, gotta have those deserts. A secret?.... sometimes I left my kids eat desert before dinner. Lol!! ... **”Dessert is best every day. Dessert must be a daily practice, or else you become bitter, sad, lonely, and angry.” Not only that, she’s sweet, competitive and teaches hula hooping! She’s a great friend. And Linc... who doesn’t love a Clark lent look alike?? I know I do!! He sexy, funny and a great person. Even though people call him Superman, he doesn’t have a “hero” complex. Lol! And Baldwin... best gay friend ever! Love him! Live the banter between Amy and Linc. Their chemistry is off the charts right off the bat. They’re witty and are great together. Another great hit from Blakely!

Cute and fun read!!
4.5 stars What an adorable, cute, smile inducing office romance. With its addictive banter, charming characters and fun storyline, Asking For a Friend is everything I look for in a rom com. Amy and Linc are so a meant to be couple. I just heart them together. Everything from their connection over books to their exchanges about ping pong made them so dang lovable. Linc Silvers on his own is all kinds of dreamy. Or as Amy would say, "dishy". As a new transfer to the company and after being burnt in a previous relationship, he was determined not to fall into another office romance. Of course, once he met Amy, he couldn't deny his attraction for long. Not that anyone can blame him. Amy is the coolest. She may be Lauren Blakley's quirkiest heroine ever. We first met her in a previous book featuring her brother Josh. I knew right then her book was going to be a blast. She's a great friend, a caring sister, and a girl power enthusiast (I am all about her cape power). These two are seriously so perfect for each other. If you know me, you know I go gaga for quick witted, flirty banter. The playful back and forth dialogue between Amy and Linc may be some of Lauren's best. It's so fun and easy. I want more and more and more. The queen of romcoms has written another gem. If you want a cute and flirty office romance, you need Asking For a Friend in your life. It's such a fun read. Also, in typical Lauren Blakely fashion, we get to see some old favorites and that's always a good time.

I immediately loved Amy in the first chapter! She was funny, sassy and smart! Linc was also funny and smart plus dreamy. They instantly clicked, and I could not wait to see how their relationship developed throughout the book. Lauren Blakely knows how to make me laugh out loud, and this book is no exception. Additionally, she was such a wordsmith in this book! I thoroughly enjoyed this dishy, delectable book and highly recommend it! I received a copy of this ebook from Candi Kane PR for my honest review.

Love the world that Ms. Blakely creates!
Quick wit, a spunky heroine and a swoony hero are what you get with new story from Lauren Blakely Asking for a Friend is the story of Amy and Linc. I so enjoy the world that Ms. Blakely has created and seeing past characters make an appearance. Amy is a fantastic heroine! She is a love of words, an absolute wordsmith with a heart of gold and a determination to make things happen in her world and to help her friends. Linc is the new man in town and the office. He has been burned in the past and when he meets Amy he doesn't want to listen to his heart right away. A chance meeting at work and a serendipitous encounter over the interwebs makes the sparks fly between Linc and Amy. I loved the wordplay in this story, the quick wit, and dialogue between the characters and I absolutely love that Amy describes Linc as "dishy"! I will be adding that delightful word to my vocabulary! A fast-paced read that I couldn't put down until the end, the world that Ms. Blakely creates is fantastic and this story is another jewel in the crown of her books!

Linc and Amy, you could feel the chemistry coming out of the book from the start. They are two book nerds who are trying to focus on their careers when they find each other. I loved how many different uses of verbiage there was in this book. Amy was witty and funny and fun. Linc was more serious but had wit to him as well. I seriously cannot get enough of Lauren Blakely's rom-coms. Every time I think she has topped herself she goes and drops another story that makes me swoon and fall in love once again. Asking For a Friend is a fun twist on the office romance/online dating world and Blakely navigates both smoothly, giving readers another adorably fun, sweet and sexy story to love.
Amy is another in a long string of strong, quirky and beautiful Blakely heroines that truly resonated with me. She has strong bonds with her friends, she's focused and driven and she is beloved by everyone who meets her. She's the kind of female character that you want in your close circle of friends because you know she'll lift you up, support you and always be rooting for you.
Linc....oh Linc! When Blakely compares him to Clark Kent and Henry Cavill, I just about fainted because.....Clark Kent/Henry Cavill!

Love this Book
Why is it that just about every time I read a Lauren Blakely book it becomes my new favorite of hers? She always has great characters, witty dialogue & lots of romance. Amy & Linc are the stars of this first book in a new series, Boyfriend Material, and I loved these two. Both book editors, they meet when Linc moves cross country to accept a job as a Senior Editor at the publishing house where Amy works as a Junior Editor. It’s instant attraction for these two book-nerds, but Linc has sworn off office relationships after a bad experience & Amy is too busy focusing on a promotion to spend any time dating. Amy sets up a dating profile for her friend Peyton, both to help her friend get back into dating after a bad breakup and to practice her own skills “selling herself” to go after the job she wants. As she starts screening the guys that respond to the profile she finds she really connects with one....but is he perfect for Peyton or for her?? Linc sets up a profile to find someone so he won’t be so tempted to date Amy....and finds one who reminds him of her. The set up reminds me a little of “You’ve Got Mail”. Loved the story & their path to a happily ever after.

A feel-good story
Another Lauren book that I enjoyed immensely. Asking for a Friend was such a marvelous read. Amy and Linc were great characters. Each had an awesome personality. I liked how they were with their friends, family, and co-workers. Just two down-to-earth and quirky people. And I loved that. But together they were magic. Their banter and interactions were so fun, sweet, and fire. Even with the twist it was still awesome. That intense attraction and how easily they mesh made for a great couple and story. I couldn’t get enough of them. I loved this story and this new world of Lauren’s. I can’t wait for the next in the series.

Witty, smart and flirty
I can’t think of enough synonyms that say how fun this book was ( hint...that was a fun clue about this read!)! Lauren Blakely always has some super wit and humor in her books, but I really enjoyed the banter and flirty nature of Asking For A Friend. Tied in with some of her other fantastic reads, (Boyfriend Material) Lauren hits the nail on the head with this contemporary romance tale. Amy is being the best of buddies by helping her friend bounce back via dating sites. But what she doesn’t know is her new coworker, Linc, takes an interest in her profile ( for her friend). Amy already likes Linc ( note...he’s a Clark Kent double, obsessed with books and is genuinely nice...swoon) in real life...but she’s also liking him online too! But she’s supposed to be doing this for her gal pal! Eek! Grab it and read it ASAP to see what happens. I mean, I’m not going to tell you everything!

Adorkable Romcom ♥️
4.5 stars This was exactly the kind of swoony, low angst romcom that I needed! Asking For a Friend hooked me in right from the start, thanks to two of the quirkiest and most adorkable characters that I've encountered. Linc and Amy were undeniably perfect for each other and their playful banter and conversations made them even more endearing. I loved that there was push and pull thanks to the office romance taboo/some past baggage, but nothing over the top or unnecessary. The drama that does pop up is resolved just as quickly as it appears. It allowed the story to focus on these two and more importantly, the powerful message that "women can support each other even when they compete". Cape power all the way! Catching up with previous Blakely characters and the nods to locations and businesses that have popped up through her books are always fun easter eggs to find. The secondary characters were just as wonderful, especially Baldwin. I loved that he got his HEA too ;) I'm really looking forward to Tristan and Peyton's story next! If you're looking for a sweet, feel good romcom, you don't want to miss Asking For a Friend! *I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this book*

Link and Amy were the perfect match! I loved every word of this book!
Boyfriend Material is the perfect name for this series because Lauren Blakely’s leading men are all that and more. Linc Silvers, our hero in Asking for a Friend, is a book lover and editor. He flew across the country from California to New York for a job promotion and to start fresh after his heart was tattered. It is at the publishing company that he first notices fellow wordsmith Amy Summers, younger sister to Josh and Quinn who both found love in Overnight Service and Special Delivery, respectively, in the Always Satisfied series. Asking for a Friend can be read as a standalone, as all of Lauren Blakely’s books can, but I do love reading about the interconnected characters whom I’ve come to know, and learning more about the leading characters introduced in previous books. Linc and Amy are a pure delight to read. Their witty banter, sensual flirting, love of the written word, dedication to their craft, and basic joyful nature, makes this book so fun to read. As a junior editor, Amy is vying for a promotion and wants to focus on her career without any distractions, while Linc is trying to steer clear of an office romance as he’s been burnt before. Every time the two of these meet it is pure magic and instant electricity. They just get each other and are so in sync. Their one-liners and zingers, body language, chemistry, and ability to read each other’s minds, make them a perfect match. If only they would give in! This book was a slow burn with a twist as they each decide to try on-line dating, but in Amy’s case, she isn’t posting for herself, she’s asking for a friend. It is during these many conversations over text that they realize it’s their soulmate on the other end. I don’t want to ruin the surprise of how they figure it out, but once they do, the pages burn up. Amy is a take-charge kinda girl and lets Linc know that she wants him desperately. And who is he to argue because he wants her just as badly. Lauren always knows how to steam up the pages and this book is level ten HOT. Our sweet little Betty Boop is a vixen and Dax Powers (Linc’s alter on-line ego) is all in with many a mouthwatering and O inducing moves himself. Not only is he devilishly handsome, suave, smart, and successful, he has the most awesome sense of humor. They both do, and I admire that they not only have fun in and out of the bedroom, they don’t pull any punches, and are honest with each other about their insecurities and feelings. I especially love all of the book and movie references that were interspersed in almost every chapter–some real and some fantasy, and their unique hobbies of enjoying badminton and hula hooping! They are not pretentious and are genuine and real. They are regular people trying to make it in a difficult business and I so enjoyed all of their interactions in the publishing world. Amy is so humble and I love how she seeks help from her siblings and peers when needed, how confident she becomes, and how her hard work is rewarded in the end. This book was such a wonderful read told in dual point of view. I highly recommend it, especially if you’re a romantic at heart. Talk about multiple O's, this book has multiple E's...another favorite of mine. Multiple, multiple heart-squishy Epilogues at the end!

But then he responded.
Is it wrong to date the guy I screened for my bestie? Not asking for a friend.

‘Da bomb!

This book nerd fell in love with these book nerds. Asking For a Friend is fun, flirty, and yummy. A must read for all book lovers. Linc and Amy are “better than cake.” A cake you’ll want to not just taste, but devour the entire thing!
Lots of trouble to have name!

This book is dishy, delectable goodness!

Wit, charm and. Everything in between!
If you are looking for a story of two every day people then this is the book for you! I highly recommend it! Received ARC for honest review.
